DENVER (CBS4) – A jury has handed down a guilty verdict in the case of a Denver man accused of killing his neighbor and putting his neighborhood on alert.

Abeyta was found guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse on Monday night. The verdict was announced in court Tuesday morning.

The incident happened in August 2013 at his home on South Irving Street near Evans in the Harvey Park neighborhood. He has been in jail since he was arrested.
Police ended up shooting and seriously injuring Abeyta.

Closing arguments in the case wrapped up Monday. Jurors ended their deliberation Monday night.
