Tomac Crashes, Dungey Wins Thunder Valley National In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Eli Tomac crashed and dislocated his right shoulder while leading in the second 450 Class moto, and Ryan Dungey went on to win the Thunder Valley National on Saturday to take the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season points lead.

Tomac, the GEICO Honda rider from Colorado, swept the motos in the first two events of the season in California and won the opener Saturday to run his streak to five. Leading by about 14 seconds, Tomac wiped out when his rear wheel hit a bump that caused the back end of the motorcycle to jump sideways.

Dungey, the Red Bull KTM rider from Minnesota, was second in the first moto.

"We made some changes coming into the weekend, but this track was much different than anything we had prepared for," Dungey said. "We adjusted to that and were good coming into the motos. I got a good start in the first moto, but made a mistake there early. Luckily, I was able to bounce back.

"In the second moto I didn't get the start I needed, none of us did, but I was able to work my way forward. I saw Eli took a tumble, so I hope he's OK, but the track was really difficult today."

Dungy raced to his 32nd career victory and record fourth at Thunder Valley.

Ken Roczen was third overall on a Suzuki. He was third in the first moto and second in the second after also crashing with the lead

Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha's Jeremy Martin swept the 250 Class moto for his second victory of the season. Also the Hangtown winner in the opener, he regained the points lead.

Zach Osborne was second overall, finishing second in the first moto and third in the second.
