Search On For Suspect In Shooting Outside Restaurant In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - One person was injured in a shooting outside a restaurant Saturday afternoon.

According to police, two men were having a conversation in the parking lot at the Captain D's restaurant on Havana Street near Exposition Avenue when the exchange of words turned violent. The victim was standing in the parking lot and the suspect was inside a car.

Police say it's quite obvious the men knew each other. The suspect fled immediately after firing one shot.

"Words were exchanged and in the midst of this the suspect pulls out a gun and shoots the victim one time; appears to shoot him in the middle of the body area, appears to be non-life-threatening at this time," Sonny Jackson with Denver police said.

The suspect fled in an older model maroon sedan with large rims and possibly a lift kit on the car.

The victim is expected to recover.

Police are hoping the victim will be able to lead them back to the suspect. There were a number of people inside the restaurant who witnessed the altercation.

So far there isn't enough evidence to believe the shooting was gang-related.
