Man Sentenced In 2004 Deadly Shooting At Bluebird Theater

DENVER (CBS4)- A man accused of shooting and killing another man after an altercation inside the Bluebird Theater in 2004 was sentenced last week.

George Allen IV pleaded guilty earlier this year to second-degree murder and one count of crime of violence, a sentence enhancer. Allen, 36, appeared in Denver District Court on May 22 and was sentenced to 27½ years in prison.

Allen shot and killed Kurt Levias in the early morning hours of Aug. 4, 2004 after a fight erupted inside the Bluebird Theater at 3317 East Colfax Avenue. The altercation continued outside the theater where Levias, 21, was fatally shot.

No arrest was made at the time but the investigation has been ongoing by detectives with the Denver Police Department. New information was received in 2010 following an episode of America's Most Wanted and additional information was developed by Homeland Security Investigations, the San Diego office, in 2013.

The new information, when combined with the results of DNA evidence and traditional investigative work, resulting in the arrest of Allen as a suspect in the murder. Allen remained at large until he was taken into custody in Las Vegas, Nevada last year.

Allen was remanded into custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections.
