17 Broncos Items Currently On Display At The Pro Football Hall Of Fame

CANTON, Ohio (CBS4) - The 54 year history of the Denver Broncos is hard to miss in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

If you're thinking of paying a visit to the Ohio town sometime soon (as CBS4's Jeff Todd did last year) you'll find plenty of Broncos memorabilia on display at the museum.

Here are the Broncos items that can currently be seen on display, according to Hall of Fame Exhibits/Museum Services Manager Saleem Choudhry.

1. Sculpture Of John Elway
Denver's legendary quarterback was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004 and a statue of his head proudly sits with all the heads of other players who have been inducted.

2. Sculpture Of Gary Zimmerman
In 2008 former offensive tackle Gary Zimmerman became the second player to be inducted who played for the Broncos during a majority of his career. He played for the Minnesota Vikings first, but he saw much success as a Bronco and got his Super Bowl ring during his final season in Denver.

3. Sculpture Of Floyd Little
Floyd Little was the next of the longtime Broncos players to be inducted -- in 2010. Little, a running back, was the first Bronco to ever win a rushing title.

4. Sculpture Of Shannon Sharpe
Tight end Shannon Sharpe became the fourth and final longtime Broncos player to be inducted in 2011. Sharpe briefly left the Broncos to play for the Ravens but he returned to Denver. Who will be the next Broncos player to be inducted? Terrell Davis and John Lynch were both passed over in this year's vote.

Sculptures of 5. Tony Dorsett and 6. Willie Brown

Both Tony Dorsett and Willie Brown played for the Broncos during minor portions of their careers. Brown, a cornerback, started his lengthy football career in Denver, playing four seasons here before being traded to the Oakland Raiders. Dorsett, a running back, played his final season in Denver.

7. Peyton Manning's "509" ball
Manning holds one of the most prestigious records in all of football -- career touchdown passes. Manning broke Brett Favre's record at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Oct. 19, 2014, and the ball he tossed to Demaryius Thomas for that touchdown now sits in Canton. After the game Manning wanted to pose with the ball with Thomas, and he quickly scribbled "509" on a piece of paper and held it up in the photo. After the photo was taken he tossed the paper in the garbage, but, as Choudhry tells it, a member of the Hall of Fame staff who was present grabbed it from the trash, and it now sits next to the ball in the display case.

8. Peyton Manning's 7 TD Game Jersey
Another case shows the jersey Manning wore in September 2013 when he threw for 7 touchdowns in a game against the Baltimore Ravens, a feat few other NFL players have ever done.

9. Manning's Entire 2013 Uniform
In a special display area the Hall calls Recent MVPs, you'll find the entire uniform from Manning's 2013 season when he was overwhelmingly voted the league's most valuable player.

An exhibit in another area of the Hall is meant to look like John Elway's locker from the 1996 season. It features his No. 7 jersey and uniform.

11. Floyd Little's Helmet, Jersey
Little has his own exhibit, which includes the helmet he wore during his rookie year and his No. 44 jersey from his final year in 1975.

12. Tim Tebow's Jersey
The jersey Tim Tebow wore in the Broncos home playoff game in 2011 when the Broncos beat the Steelers is on display. Why? "It was the quickest game ending in overtime in history," Choudhry said.

13. Elway's Cereal
A box of Elway's Comeback Crunch cereal is on display, and pays tribute to Elway's knack for leading big comebacks when he was a player on the Broncos.

14. Game Ball: Broncos-Bengals
"One of the first artifacts in our museum that a visitor will see is this ball -- the first ball used in the Bengals home opener. And their opponent was the Broncos," Choudhry said.

15. Zimmerman's Shoulder Pads And Cleats
Zimmerman's Reebok cleats from the Broncos' first Super Bowl victory in 1998 are on display, along with his shoulder pads.

16. Matt Prater's Cleats
Kicker Matt Prater set the NFL record on Dec. 8, 2013, for the longest-ever NFL field goal with a 64 yard boot. He didn't send off his cleats off to the hall until the conclusion of that Broncos season because he was superstitious about using another pair of cleats to make his kicks. Prater now plays for the Detroit Lions.

17. A Sock From The First Broncos Uniforms
The Broncos first uniforms featured brown striped socks, brown and yellow pants and a white striped helmet. "When the Broncos began with AFL in 1960 budgets were tight and they purchased used uniforms from a college for the uniforms," said Choudry, who described them as hideous. "The players felt like they felt like clowns on the field." After new uniforms were adopted, some players lit a bonfire and burned all the uniforms. So the story goes, an equipment manager on the team kept a pair of the socks, though, and one of those socks now sits in a display in the hallowed halls of Canton.
