Dead Man Identified, Suicide Cited In FBI Confrontation In Littleton

LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) - A man killed while law enforcement officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a Littleton motel has been identified.

The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office on Monday identified the man as 19-year-old Jesus Emmanuel Avila. The coroner's office said Avila committed suicide with a single gunshot to the head on Friday. Police had said earlier the man shot himself.

An FBI agent shot in the leg at the time is expected to survive. The FBI has not released the agent's name or condition.

FBI spokeswoman Amy Sanders previously said a multi-agency task force was serving the warrant for a suspected bank robber dubbed the "Longhorn Bandit," wanted in connection with six bank robberies this year in metropolitan Denver.
