May Day Protest Draws About 2 Dozen People

DENVER (AP) — A May Day protest near the state Capitol in Denver drew about two dozen people Friday.

While many May Day protests across the nation focused on police brutality, demonstrators in Denver mainly rallied against inequality, echoing the theme of previous May Day rallies by the Occupy movement.

Demonstrator David Garner said he was concerned about inequality for people of color as well as overall economic inequality.

There were no run-ins with police unlike Wednesday night when Denver police arrested 11 people during a demonstration over the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore.

Police used pepper spray on some of the approximately 100 protesters after someone allegedly knocked a police officer off his motorcycle.
