Dia Del Nino Celebration Celebrates Mexican Culture

DENVER (CBS4)- The Dia del Nino Celebration kicked off at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on Saturday.

Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock proclaimed April 25 as Dia del Nino Day for the State of Colorado and the City of Denver.

The second annual Dia del Nino celebration is expected to draw at least 13,000 people. The festivities included performances by troupes including the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Los Chinelos and Danza Matachina Guadalupana.

Mascots from Colorado's professional sports teams were also part of the celebration as well as the Denver Public Library Reading Rocket.

The celebration was only on Saturday but the museum has many special events, including SCFD Community Free Days.
