5 Good Things From The Rockies' First 2 Weeks

DENVER (CBS4) - Two weeks and 12 games in, the Rockies are 7-5. I think most fans would call that a success.

The hot start cooled a bit this weekend by another sweep in Los Angeles at the hands of the Dodgers (nine straight losses now for the Rockies at Dodger Stadium). Still, there were plenty of positives from the first couple weeks of Rockies baseball.

Carlos Gonzalez

1. Tulo and Cargo are back -- After the Rockies superstars finished 2014 on the Disabled List, Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez both appear to be back on track (for the most part). Tulowitzki is batting .326 with 7 doubles and 7 RBIs; while Gonzales is a little slower out of the gates, batting .222 with 4 doubles and 5 RBI's.

Nolan Arenado

2. Nolen Arenado -- The Rockies Gold Glove third baseman already has the catch of the year with an over the shoulder and into a tarp foul ball grab against the Giants, while his bat causing plenty of damage as well. Through 12 games he is batting over .300 with a team high 10 RBIs and 3 home runs.

3. D.J. LeMahieu -- Along with Tulo and Arenado, LeMahieu is part of arguably the best defensive infield in baseball, but the second baseman is adding some offense to the bottom of the batting order. Batting eighth or ninth, D.J. is batting .463 with a team best 19 hits to go along with 8 RBIs.

Adam Ottavino

4. Adam Ottavino -- After LaTroy Hawkins struggled in the closer role the first few games, the Rockies quickly replaced him with Ottavino. In six appearances Ottavino has given up just one hit and no runs, while striking out 12. His slider has been described as "nasty" and "unhittable" and it looks like the Rockies have their ninth inning man for the season.

5. Rafael Betancourt -- One of several relievers who has been impressive so far, tip of the hat to the 39-year-old who is back in the big leagues after missing last year recovering from Tommy John surgery. Betancourt has given up just one run and two hits in six innings of work. Along with Christian Friedrich, Christian Bergman and Boone Logan, Rockies have a handful of arms in their bullpen this year capable of keeping games close.
