CU Lands Talented Guard From CU-Colorado Springs

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - It's been an offseason of change at University of Colorado for the Buffaloes basketball team after Tad Boyle's first losing season in Boulder.

Boyle has seen two players leave the program, but signed a pair of players from Europe. On Sunday the Buffs announced a pretty talented in-state transfer. The newest Buff is Derrick White, a 6-foot-5 guard from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

White scored 50 points in a postseason win against Colorado School of Mines in the first NCAA Tournament win for the Mountain Lions.

White averaged 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and was an All-American last year. He is Colorado Springs' all-time leading scorer after just 3 years.

"(Boyle) talked about how they can make me better and make me the best player that I can be," White told CBS4. "It's going to be exciting, you're going to be on national television every day. You get to play against some of the best players in the world … the competition level is going to be a big challenge, but I'm looking forward to it."

The Legend High School graduate from Parker will have to sit out next season but will get to play one year for the Buffs in the Pac-12.
