State Sen. David Balmer is one of the hosts. He says if tax day is stressing people out, the adoption event will lift them up.

“We thought we would give people a chance to burn off some of that tax day stress, come out and see some dogs and cats. Maybe take some home or at very least meet them today,” said PetSmart Charities spokesman Dave Wintz.

The event was part of National Adoption weekend.
