Police Search Home Of Student Arrested In Skinner Middle School Investigation

DENVER (CBS4)- Authorities searched the home of one of three boys arrested after two guns and a suspicious device were found at Skinner Middle School in Denver on Friday morning.

Denver police say school staff were notified about the weapons and then quickly called police.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. a lockdown went into effect at the school, located at 3435 West 40th Avenue.

Investigators went to a home in Adams County at 9:40 a.m. Friday morning where a Denver Police detective left a note with the title "Adams County Sheriff's Office Urgent Message" on the door. The note read, "Call Denver Police Detective Olin / Ref your son at Skinner Middle School Thank You"

Adams County Sheriff's Deputies and a detective began searching the outside of the home when a man arrived. He said he lives in the home with the parents and children. He allowed four Adams County Sheriff's deputies and the detective into the house.

The man told CBS4 this was all a misunderstanding with his cousins but wouldn't provide any more details.

The woman police were looking for, one of the boy's mothers, was located. She is an employee at an elementary school near Skinner. It is unclear why police were unable to contact her Friday morning.

Meantime at Skinner Middle School, the lockdown was lifted an hour after the students were taken into custody. Police said the three students were arrested and two handguns were found.

Police said the third juvenile who didn't have a gun had some sort of smoke device.

The three juveniles remained in custody on Friday evening.
