Bicycle Rider Killed In Hit & Run In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - A person walking their bike across the street was killed Thursday night after they were hit by a car.

The crash happened on South Federal Boulevard between Walsh Place and Ohio Avenue, and the driver took off afterwards.

Police say the crash happened just before 10 p.m. and that the driver continued south on Federal after the collision without slowing down.

A couple who spoke with a CBS4 crew at the scene said they witnessed the crash and tried to help the victim -- who they say was a male -- but it was too late.

The victim's name has not been released.

The vehicle that sped away is described as a 2002-2004 model year Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer, dark in color.

The vehicle is expected to have moderate damage to the driver's side corner around the headlight.
