Mayor Paints Lodo Purple In Advance Of Rockies Home Opener

DENVER (CBS4)- The Mayor of Denver painted Lodo purple on Thursday... well, only Blake Street, in advance of the Colorado Rockies Home Opener at Coors Field on Friday.

Hancock pushed the cart that painted the18-inch purple stripe right down the middle of the street along with help from Denver Public Works crews.

The tradition dates back to 1995. The stripe is along Blake Street from 22nd to 19th. Rockies logos were also placed along the pavement.

It's the start of the 20th season of the Colorado Rockies here in Denver and I have got to tell you, we're all excited with the anticipation about this season," said Hancock.

The undefeated Rockies open the season against the Chicago Cubs on Friday at home after cleaning up with the three-game sweep to open the season against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The first pitch is at 2:10 p.m. Friday.
