2 Charged In Connection With Shot Fired In Lodo

DENVER (CBS4)- Two man have been charged in connection with an Easter weekend incident in which a shot was fired near 20th and Market Streets on April 4.

Matthew Herrera, 23, has been charged with vehicular eluding, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and prohibited use of a weapon.

Ricardo Saguilan, 23, has been charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

The charges allege that in the early morning hours of April 4, Herrera and Saguilan were in a car and that Herrera fired a shot in the area of 20th and Market Streets. Further investigation revealed there was no indication that Herrera was shooting at an officer when he fired.

The charges further allege that as police officers responded to the area, the car sped away.

According to police records, the driver crashed into a light pole near 20th and Broadway. The three occupants of the vehicle escaped on foot.

Nearly 7 hours later police arrested three men -- the two listed above and Alejandro Herrera, 21. Alejandro was later released.

Herrera and Sanguilan remain in custody, each on $100,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Friday to be formally advised of the charges.
