Colorado Lawmakers Settle Exchange Audit Measure

DENVER (AP) - An expanded review of the Colorado health insurance exchange awaits the governor's pen.

The state House voted 64-1 Monday to approve an expanded state audit for Connect For Health Colorado.

A limited state audit released in December faulted Connect For Health for a lack of adequate financial controls and more than $30 million worth of exchange payments and contracts lacking proper documentation or procedural controls.

The bill gives auditors broader authority to look at the health insurance exchange, including reviewing contract management and the performance of its website.

Democrats last year opposed the expanded audit, wanting to give the exchange more time to get started. Democratic opposition vanished this year.

Colorado had about 140,000 sign-ups for private insurance through the exchange by mid-February.
