Warm Temperatures Mean More Rock Slides Likely Along Mountain Roads
DENVER (CBS4) - Rock slides have frequently been forcing mountain roads to close, and with the temperatures warming up, there are likely to be more.
Colorado is inside of a freeze and thaw cycle where the warm weather melts snow and turns it into water. Once the water find its way in the cracks between rocks, it freezes. When that freeze occurs, expansion happens and causes instability of the rocks.
