Denver Residents Upset Over Snow-Packed Side Streets

DENVER (CBS4)- After a week of snowfall in the Denver metro area, some drivers are complaining about making their way through the side streets with all the snow piling up.

Denver Public Works has a certain criteria that must be met before they launch the residential plow program. The program is activated when winter weather forecasts more than a foot of snow and combines with prolonged freezing temperatures. It was created after the so called "Snowpalooza" of 2006-2007 winter.

The main streets are passable but the side streets, not so much, according to many drivers.

"I'm feeling pretty frustrated, I wish they would come and plow them," said one commuter.

Those who must park on the side streets claim it's a navigational nightmare, "I can't get into my parking spots and I can't get out. I'm sliding."

The best chance for better driving is a big dose of sunshine and warm temperatures which will melt the snow faster than shovels and plows can clear it.
