GLENDALE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Glendale announced Monday night that the suspect in an early morning homicide had been taken into custody after they found him hiding in a laundry room.
Severiano Almendariz, 55, is suspected in the fatal stabbing of Nora Reachel Deleon, 40, at an apartment off South Birch Street near South Colorado Boulevard and East Mississippi Avenue. At about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, police were called to the Birch Apartments to investigate and found Deleon dead inside.
Police cruisers sat parked outside the Glendale apartment complex for most of the day on Monday, as investigators came in and out of the building carrying bags full of evidence.
Robert Sherry has lived in the apartment for almost 10 years. He said he wasn't aware anything had happened until, "At about 1 o'clock (Monday) afternoon police came to my door asking if I heard anything or seen anything last night," and is still unsure what took place.
