Man Killed While Trying To Stop Woman From Driving Drunk

MONTE VISTA, Colo. (CBS4) - A southern Colorado woman is accused of killing the man who tried to stop her from driving drunk Sunday night.

Autumn Martinez, 21, is facing charges of vehicular homicide, DUI and reckless driving.

Police in Monte Vista say a man jumped on the hood of Martinez's car to keep her from driving drunk. She allegedly drove into a tree, killing the man, identified as 25-year-old Kendrick Marquez.

"The investigation thus far has revealed that a domestic disturbance took place prior to the vehicle crash and that the victim apparently jumped onto the hood of the vehicle to attempt to keep the driver from driving while intoxicated," police said in a statement.

The Colorado State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
