Mother Visiting Cemetery Finds Daughter's Grave Marker Missing

CANON CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - A community is rallying around a mother after someone stole her daughter's unique headstone.

A bear marked the grave of Hope Littig, an infant who died just moments after being born in 2001. Her mother, Melinda Littig, discovered the marker was missing when she went to the cemetery in Canon City last week.

"I was here about a month ago and everything was fine, and me and my kids the other day were coming to bring some stuff for spring that we had picked up, and it was gone," Littig said.

Family and friends saved for three years to pay for the bear, which sat next to a small name plate. Now people are stepping up to help replace the marker and a Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the family pay for a replacement headstone.
