'Always Available' Mechanic Closes, Leaves Customers' Cars On Street

ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) - An Arvada mechanic shop, ironically named Always Available Mobile Mechanics, abruptly closed its doors, leaving customers' cars sitting on the street.

In one case, a man's vehicle is in worse shape now than when he brought it in. Robert Green has watched his truck sit untouched for two months.

"He's been putting me off, telling me they're trying to find parts and everything for it. Come to find out, he's five months behind in paying his rent over here at his shop."

When he went to the Arvada shop, Green found an eviction notice. His truck was on the street with more damage and more belongings than when he left.

Apparently the mechanic, "knocked off my lock and used my truck to put his stuff in, out of his shop," said Green.

Green is a small business owner himself, and paid Always Available shop owner Ronald Cox $450 to rebuild the engine of his moving truck. The owner of the building said he is out tens of thousands of dollars because Cox skipped town.

But CBS4 was able to find him, and Cox said that the last few months have "been a nightmare" because of a relative who sabotaged his business. He said he is trying to make up for his mistakes and will tow all the vehicles back to their owners and fix them.

Green, however, is skeptical. And when his truck was towed to him on Thursday, he had to pay the $200 bill.

"I really need this truck back," said Green.

Cox said he is going to take care of this dilemma and won't charge his customers for his labor or anything additional beyond what they've already paid.
