Thornton Officer Won't Face Charges In Friendly Fire Incident

DENVER (CBS4) - A police officer will not face charges in a December friendly fire incident that wounded an Adams County deputy.

Deputy Mike Robbins was shot by Thornton police officer Brent Mullen. It happened in Denver while both men were chasing suspects in a triple murder.

Denver's DA on Wednesday ruled Mullen will not face charges because he mistook Robbins for one of the suspects. Robbins was in plain clothes at the time.

Robbins was shot as officers closed in on Furmen Lee Leyba.

Leyba and Gabriel Flores are charged with killing three people inside a home in Adams County.
