2 Arrested In Vandalism, Theft At School In Brush

BRUSH, Colo. (CBS4)- Two arrests were made in connection with the vandalism and theft at a school in Brush.

Classes have been cancelled at Riverview Christian School in Brush for Friday.

The vandals broke in overnight from Wednesday to Thursday and stole several iPads, a camera and other items collected for an upcoming fundraising auction. There was also damage to the school.

"It was just mass vandalism. They poured water and coffee into our copy machines and in our printers. Poured sugar in one of the copy machines. Um, just totally made a mess of things," said Riverview Christian Principal Greg Furman.

A tip from a citizen led Morgan County Sheriff's deputies to a vehicle in the 900 block of Barlow Road in Fort Morgan where they arrested a 17-year-old juvenile from Brush about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies also arrested Garet S. Lorenzini, 18, of Fort Morgan in the 1200 block of Main Street in Fort Morgan at 5:35 p.m. Thursday.

The juvenile is being held at the Platte Valley Youth Center and Lorenzini is being held in the Morgan County Jail on no bond. They are facing burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges.

All of the electronics were recovered however cash, checks and other items stolen are still being sought.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, after the President's Day holiday on Monday. Brush is about 85 miles away from the Denver metro area.
