Morning Snow Causes Icy, Slippery Commute

DENVER (CBS4)- The Wednesday morning commute was icy and slow around the Denver metro area after the snow started to fall and accumulate.

It took drivers nearly twice as long, in some cases, to reach their destination because of the icy conditions.

CBS4 FORECAST: Colder With Light Snow

Denver Public Works had snow plow crews on duty overnight to deploy once the snow started to accumulate on the main streets or most streets with stripes.

Snow plow drivers are scheduled to remain on duty throughout the day Wednesday. A fleet of 70 big trucks will be utilized to plow snow and distribute de-icing materials.

Across the Front Range, snow will slowly taper through the morning before clearing in the afternoon. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in place through either 6 p.m. or Midnight for many of the northern mountains. Some of the northwest areas could see 12 to 24 inches of snow. Denver could end with 1 to 3 inches by the time the snow stops falling.
