16 Metro Area Neighborhoods Get Broadband Upgrade From CenturyLink

DENVER (CBS4) - CenturyLink is now offering faster broadband speeds in 16 neighborhoods around the Denver metro area, the company announced on Wednesday.

The faster speeds are at approximately 1 gigabit per second. More neighborhoods will get the upgrades later in the year.

The following neighborhoods received the upgrade:

Baker
Bonnie Brae
Belcaro
Cole
Congress Park
Corey Merrill
Overland
Park Hill
Platt Park
Rosedale
Sections of Stapleton
Washington Park West and East
University
University Park
Villa Park

"CenturyLink has put the future within reach with gigabit technology that is now available to a large number of residents in 16 Denver neighborhoods," said Shirish Lal, chief marketing officer for CenturyLink. "We are delivering on our promise of making Denver a Gig city and will be announcing more Denver area Gig communities in the coming months."

"CenturyLink's ultra-fast high-speed Internet service not only makes our city a better place to live and work but access in northeast neighborhoods like Cole helps drive economic growth in our city and provides families and businesses more opportunities for success," stated Denver City Councilman Albus Brooks.

CenturyLink said the "advanced fiber technology provides access to some of the fastest upload and download speeds currently available in the U.S."
