Judge Sentences Former Contract Driver Who Drove RTD Bus Drunk
DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver judge on Monday sentenced a man who admitted to driving an RTD bus while he was drunk.
Darren Pettee, 50, received a sentence of a year in jail, including alcohol treatment, and two years of DUI probation after that.
Pettee was a contract driver for RTD on Sept. 1 when a passenger reported he was driving recklessly and had run a stop sign.
Court documents states Pettee's blood alcohol content level was nearly three times the legal limit.
Pettee had allegedly told authorities he had consumed a half-gallon of vodka the day before. He is also required to complete two years of DUI probation. If he's successful, he can avoid a second year in jail.
