Nursing Home Employee Sentenced: 24 Years To Life For Sexually Assaulting Patients

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4)- A nursing home employee was sentenced on Thursday for sexually assaulting two female patients in his care at a Broomfield nursing home.

Antonio Nieto was convicted Nov. 7, 2014 of sexually assaulting a 59-year-old patient between July 10 and July 19, 2013 and sexually assaulting a 73-year-old patient on Aug. 14, 2013 at Broomfield Skilled Nursing, located at 12975 Sheridan Blvd.

Nieto worked at the facility as a certified nursing assistant.

The jury heard a recorded phone conversation from the jail in which Nieto admitted to his fiancee what he had done and said he deserved to be punished. Both victims testified during the trial.

Nieto was convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault on an at-risk adult, two counts of sexual assault on an at-risk adult and one count of unlawful sexual contact on an at-risk adult involving the two women.

Broomfield County District Court Judge Francis Wasserman sentenced Nieto to two prison terms of 12 years to life, one for each of the victims, to be served consecutively, for a total of 24 years to life in prison.

"This man preyed on these defenseless women who trusted him to care for them and not to take advantage of them to satisfy his own selfish needs," said District Attorney Dave Young, who prosecuted the case with Deputy District Attorney Amy Petri-Beard.

"He continues to deny his conduct even though he admitted what he had done in recorded phone conversations. He is heading to prison for a long time and that is what he deserves. We are gratified that the judge imposed consecutive sentences to that each of our victims in this case can have some sense of justice for what this man did to them."
