1 Shot In Head During Road Rage Incident At Home Depot Parking Lot

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - One man was shot in the head after a road rage incident became violent on Thursday afternoon in Thornton.

The shooting happened just after 2:30 p.m. in a Home Depot parking lot near the lumber area at 100th Avenue and Grant Street.

Thornton police spokesman Matt Barnes told CBS4 it started when a car and a truck pulled into the parking lot and one driver cut off the other.

The victim said he parked his car, a dark grey Acura sedan, and got out. A passenger then exited the truck and shot the victim in the head.

The condition of the 33-year-old victim has not been released, but police said he was alive when he was rushed to St. Anthony North Hospital.

Police do not believe the victim and suspects know each other.

Police are searching for the suspect's vehicle, described as a black Toyota truck with a brush guard/grill on the front and possible damage to the bumper. The truck also had clutter in the back bed with numerous items in it. The victim did not get a description of the license plate.

Police are hoping to get a better description of the suspect vehicle from the surveillance cameras in the parking lot. They're also using drones to take aerial photographs. Police had cordoned off portions of the parking lot while they investigated.

The suspected shooter is described as either a light-skinned Hispanic or white male wearing a dark jacket. The driver is described as a dark-skinned Hispanic male with earrings.
