Colorado's Stan Kroenke Plans To Build NFL Stadium In Los Angeles Area, Report Says

DENVER (CBS Denver) -- The owner of the St. Louis Rams is reportedly planning to build an NFL stadium in Inglewood, California.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Stan Kroenke has joined forces with Stockbridge Capital Group to build an 80,000-seat stadium. Stockbridge Capital Group owns the 238-acre Hollywood Park site.

"We are excited to unveil an expanded plan that will bring a world-class sports and entertainment district to Hollywood Park," Terry Fancher, founder of Stockbridge, told the LA Times in a statement. "We are committed to working with [the Kroenke Group] to build a project that will put Inglewood back on the map as home of the truly great sports and entertainment venues."

The Rams played in Los Angeles and Anaheim from 1946 until 1994, before moving to St. Louis.

The LA Times reports that the Rams can end their 30-year lease a decade early for not reaching an agreement with St. Louis to improve the Edward Jones Dome. The city is expected to offer the team a new proposal by the end of January.

CBS Sports reports that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told all NFL teams that no team would be allowed to move to Los Angeles for 2015.

The new stadium is expected to be completed by 2018.

Kroenke's The Kroenke Group, based in Colorado, also includes the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids and Colorado Mammoth. The Colorado teams are under his son Josh Kroenke's name in order to not be in violation of NFL ownership restrictions.
