Royal Hotel In Yampa Destroyed By Fire

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Yampa's historic Royal Hotel, a more than 100-year-old building that still was serving as a residence, hotel and social bar, has been destroyed by a fire.

The fire began late Saturday and was still burning Sunday. No injuries were reported.

According to Steamboat Today, two cars parked outside the hotel were destroyed and the adjacent U.S. Post Office and church suffered broken windows and water damage.

The Royal Hotel was built in 1906 by Thomas P. Lindsay and served miners, timber and railroad crews, ranchers, and travelers on the Wolcott Stage line.
