Alcohol Suspected In Serious Crash In Aurora
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Aurora suspect alcohol and excessive speed were a factor in a crash that resulted in serious injuries Monday night.
According to Lt. Michael McClelland, officers responded to call about a rollover accident with injuries at the intersection of South Chambers Road and East Mexico Avenue at approximately 11:40 p.m.
"Upon arrival officers found a silver in color 2005 Mitsubishi Galant 4 door sedan overturned on its roof on the north fence line of the liquor store parking lot," McClelland said in a statement.
Three men inside the vehicle were injured and transported to the Medical Center of Aurora.
An investigation revealed the Mitsubishi was traveling northbound Chambers at a high rate of speed and lost control. The car struck signal pole, a business sign, rolled and landed on its roof.
Both the driver and front seat passenger suffered minor injuries while the back seat occupant, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries. He is expected to survive.
"Alcohol and excessive speed are both suspected," McClelland said.
The driver was taken into custody.
No names have been released.
