DENVER (CBS4)– CBS4 anchors Karen Leigh and Jim Benemann volunteered to serve Thanksgiving dinner to homeless and low income families on Wednesday.

Leigh and Benemann joined Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock in serving lunch at the Denver Rescue Mission.

About 500 homeless and low income families were served a hot meal with turkey, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, corn and gravy. They also dined on pumpkin pie.

Other volunteers at the Great Thanksgiving Banquet included historian Tom Noel and Hancock’s wife, Mary Louise Lee.
