Hiker's Body Found On Longs Peak
ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - Rescue crews located the remains of a missing hiker on Longs Peak on Thursday, the park service said.
The body of Peter Jeffris, 25, was found about 200 feet below the Ledges on the Keyhole route, a spokesman for the park said. A helicopter assisted in the search.
Jeffris, of Broomfield, reportedly left Sunday morning to summit the peak and did not arrive at work on Monday morning.
Searchers located his Jeep but said they believed he wasn't prepared for the extreme winds and blowing snow.
Cold weather and extreme winds hampered searches earlier in the week.
