Aurora Officer Continues To Recover After Being Shot

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – A police officer in Aurora continues to recover after being shot last Friday.

On Monday morning Aurora police tweeted that the officer is still in the hospital, but is in good condition and improving. He hasn't been identified. Police said they also still have no information about the suspect.

The shooting happened at 17th Avenue and Fulton Street with the suspect firing a shot as officers approached a car. The officer who wasn't hit fired back but it's not known if the suspect was hit.

The suspect drove off and abandoned the car two blocks north. Police say the suspect stole the car, a white Volkswagen Jetta, from a business on East Colfax Avenue near Del Mar Parkway.

An additional $5,000 on top of the $2,000 offered by Crime Stoppers has been offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of a suspect.

The Aurora Police Department has increased the reward for information related to this shooting.  An additional $5,000.00 is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect(s) involved in this incident.

Police are still trying to locate witnesses.
