DENVER (CBS4) – The University of Denver’s men’s basketball team hopes they’ll improve on their 16-15 record from 2013.

“There’s no question that in our time here we’re putting our name in the conversation with traditional, mid-major basketball schools. That means we’re on our way to being that kind of school,” head coach Joe Scott said.

DU opens against Idaho State at home on Sunday. They play at Wyoming and Stanford and at home against Colorado State before the end of December.

The Pioneers feature two freshmen in their starting lineup this season.
