COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – A man rescued from an apartment fire Friday night has died, the Colorado Springs Fire Department said Saturday.

The victim, a man, was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The fire started shortly before 9:15 p.m. at the Courtyard at De Cortez apartment complex. Firefighters arrived at 3006 De Cortez St. within five minutes and encountered heavy smoke and fire on the second floor. They contained the fire to one apartment.

Officials said the fire’s cause is under investigation.
