Jose Gabriel King, 22, appeared before a Denver judge late Friday morning. He is charged with murdering his roommate Amanda J. Anders, 19, and her friend Nancy Worrell, 22.

The murders took place late Wednesday night at the French Quarter apartments on the 3200 block of South Parker Road.

According to the arrest report, residents at the apartment complex called 911 when they heard someone screaming and heard shots fired. One caller said they heard a male and female arguing before the shots were fired.

Responding police then found the bodies of the women just inside the apartment Anders and King shared.

King left the area and drove to Castle Rock after the shooting, according to the documents. There, he told his father he needed to apologize and say goodbye. His father, who had concerns his son might be suicidal, then contacted police.

King was arrested shortly afterwards in a vehicle after having left his father's home. At that point King, who was wearing no shirt and a pair of sweatpants, allegedly said he did "a bad thing tonight" in Aurora. He said he should be arrested and jailed.

After being transferred to Denver police custody, King allegedly told investigators he got "into an argument with his roommate and a friend while inside the apartment." The arrest document states he confessed to going to his bedroom, getting his handgun and shooting both women.

King faces two counts of first degree murder.
