CSU Takes On Utah State, A Victory Could Put Rams In Top 25

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- The Colorado State University football team is on the verge of achieving something great. If they win on Saturday they could find themselves ranked in the Top 25.

The Rams (5-1, 1-1 MW) are coming off a road victory at Nevada. They will host defending Mountain West Division Champions Utah State (4-2, 1-0 MW) this weekend.

Saturday will mark the 91st time these two teams have met, with the past two contests going to the Aggies.

The Rams look to become bowl eligible in the fewest amount of games (7) since 2002.

It's also homecoming weekend at CSU, so the game is getting a lot of attention.

CSU Rams head coach Jim McElwain said this is what the team has been waiting for.

"This is what it's all about. This is what we're here to build -- a sense of excitement, increasing the brand to Colorado State University from a national standpoint, a state-wide standpoint and obviously up and down the Front Range standpoint, right?" said McElwain. "This is the expectation."
