Man Walks For Help After Being Shot Driving On U.S. 36

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – A man who was shot while driving on U.S. 36 and crashed his car survived after walking to a nearby residence for help Friday night.

According to Wayne Read with Westminster police, at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a single-car crash on eastbound U.S. 36 at the 80th Avenue overpass.

"Approximately 10 minutes later the police department received a call from a person saying an adult male was at their home and appeared to have a gunshot wound," Read said in a statement.

The victim had apparently walked to the home, which was a few blocks from the crash, and asked the residents to call for help.

Police are still investigating the incident but said the man was shot from another vehicle and there isn't a threat to the public.

"We are aware the community may be concerned about the circumstances of this shooting. Therefore, we want to reassure the public, this was a vehicle-to-vehicle incident," Mead said.
