Fun Run Helps Prep Runners For Rock 'N' Roll Denver Marathon

DENVER (CBS4) - A couple of dozen Janus Corporation employees took part in a 5K fun run on Thursday evening. The Denver-based company is putting together a team to run in the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2. It's one of many opportunities that the company offers to promote a healthy lifestyle among its students.

"Our employee base is very active and motivated. Every year, we have a myriad of different types of programs that get them out and involved in being healthy. So at the Janus Rock 'n' Roll race this year, we'll have over 50 Janus employees participating," said Casey Cortese, Vice President for Experiential Marketing at Janus Corporation.

The fun run was hosted by the Boulder Running Company's Cherry Creek location. The course took them along the Cherry Creek bike path. Two-time Olympic runner Alan Culpepper joined in the run and then answered training questions afterward. For some of the Janus employees, this is their first foray into running.

"We have runners from all different levels from the company and employees from all different levels of the company too. One girl… I was just talking to her and she started running two weeks ago. And so she came out to be a part of it and to see this was inspiring her enough to actually race," Cortese added.

The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon is Oct. 19. For the first time this year, there will be 10K and 5K courses, opening up the race to all skill levels.
