Springs District May Try To Opt Out Of Standardized Testing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Colorado Springs District 11 schools are expected to vote on trying to opt out of the state's current standardized testing.

The district's school board is considering a plan to create an alternative annual student assessment and accountability system.

Colorado law does not allow public schools to opt out of the testing all together.

Supporters of the change have said the current system means too much time is spent on how to teach the test, instead of focusing on day to day assignments.
