Police say officers found 2-year-old Maddilynn Hernandez injured after they were called to an area near the southeast corner of the Air Force Academy on Saturday afternoon. She died the following morning, and the El Paso County Coroner's Office ruled her death a homicide.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Kevin Diaz, who is wanted on a charge of child abuse resulting in death. He is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-10, 136 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators did not detail Maddilynn's injuries.
