The inmates ran off after injuring a 65-year-old male staff member with a rock. They were captured in Wheat Ridge just after 7 a.m. after an extensive search that included SWAT teams and Denver police's helicopter.

The teens traveled about 8 miles from the facility.

People who live in the area received a reverse 911 alert to watch out for the teens overnight.

Officials in Golden said the worker who was hurt was taken to a hospital and his condition is unknown. His name has not been released.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to our fellow employee and his family," said Dan Drayer, communications director of the Colorado Department of Human Services, which overseas the facility.

A total of 130 young men are housed at the center.
