Broncos Trade For Kicker Brandon McManus, Waive Ewald

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver Broncos have traded for New York Giants kicker Brandon McManus, ESPN reported on Tuesday.

According to the network, the Broncos gave up a conditional seventh-round draft pick for McManus, whom Giants were expected to waive.

The Broncos need the help after veteran kicker Matt Prater was suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse rules. Mitch Ewald, a rookie and the team's other kicker, was waived, the team announced.

McManus, 23, played in four preseason games for the Giants this season, connecting on 46- and 47-yard field goals and three of three extra points.

McManus, who attended Temple, was signed by Indianapolis in April 2013 as an undrafted free agent. The Colts waived him later that summer.
