Loveland Police Identify Person Killed By Train

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) – Authorities in Loveland have identified a person who was killed after being struck by a train but have not released his name.

According to Loveland police, just before 11 p.m. on Friday the Burlington Northern Railway called Loveland police to report a person was hit by one of their trains.

The train, traveling south from Cheyenne to Denver, was between 37th and 29th streets near the 3200 block.

"The employees saw a male walking next to the train track. The male walked onto the tracks. The train applied its emergency brakes to try and stop the train but it was unable to stop in such a short distance and hit the pedestrian," Sgt. Justin Chase with Loveland police said in a statement.

The male was found dead under the train.
