Picture Of Sex Assault Suspect Generates Rush Of Calls To Sheriff

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4)- The picture of a sexual assault suspect who met his alleged victims online has generated a rush of calls to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The Jeffco sheriff released Michael Miller's picture earlier this week after they believed there may be additional victims who have not come forward.

Since Miller has been arrested, the Jeffco Sheriff has received more than a dozen tips from people who know or had contact with Miller.

"It would be naive to believe that we will not discover more victims within these call backs," said Jeffco Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer. "The investigators are going through those tips, one by one, interviewing those people."

Miller was arrested in Aurora last week on sexual assault charges after one of his alleged victims in Golden went to a hospital and authorities were called.

That victim told deputies that Miller forced himself on her and when she told him "no" he made her have sex with him.

The victim said she met Miller on the dating website "OK Cupid." According to the arrest affidavit, Miller was meeting women on dating sites, including Craigslist.

Law enforcement may have linked him to other allegations of assault in different jurisdictions. Two of those women have been interviewed by investigators in Jefferson County.

There were other allegations but those were never prosecuted in court. Some of those alleged victims spoke with deputies and detailed similar situations like those the alleged victim in Golden described.

"We want justice for the victim. We want to work for them to ensure this guy doesn't do this to anyone else. We ask them to step forward to keep that from happening," said Techmeyer.

Miller will be in court on Monday for his first appearance.
