Woman Who Faked Cancer Gets Prison For Lying Again
GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — The wife of a police officer who faked cancer to get donations from friends and neighbors has been sent to prison for lying to her probation officer.
A Jefferson County judge on Monday sentenced 34-year-old Ann Crall to eight years in prison after prosecutors said she forged documents to make it look like she was complying with her probation.
She was convicted in 2010 of theft and charitable fraud after telling a tragic tale of dying from cancer that generated sympathy and about $60,000 in donations. Her husband's co-workers, their church and families of their children's schoolmates donated. Her husband, Richard Crall, also believed she had cancer.
Prosecutors say she forged documents from her employer to mislead her probation officer. Court records don't say who will represent Crall on the new charges.
