Fire At Castle Rock Apartment Building Displaces Residents

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Fire heavily damaged an apartment building in Castle Rock early Friday morning.

Eight people were displaced from their homes when the apartments near the Douglas County Fairgrounds went up in flames.

Firefighters say so far it looks like some cooking was left unattended.

"And with the stove being on there were some pizza boxes adjacent to the stove that they believe caught fire. They tried to extinguish it, weren't able to and then they flooded the apartment," Castle Rock Fire Chief Art Morales said.

Fire investigators are working on confirming the cause of the fire.

The American Red Cross is helping people who live in the building.
