Fort Collins Arsonist May Have Been Caught On Tape

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Surveillance video from a local business possibly shows the arsonist who set 10 fires on Sunday.

The Fort Collins Daily Pawn's video captured someone walking slowly outside the store for a few seconds, apparently to return after the fires were set to watch them spread.

"The person was in no hurry," pawn shop employee Nathan Dechairo said. "It was deliberate. They knew what they were doing, did it many places and thought they didn't have a risk of being caught."

No one was injured, but the fires destroyed landscaping and caused minor damage to buildings. They were set at 6 a.m. on South College Avenue, between West Drake Road and Monroe Drive. The Poudre Fire Authority extinguished the fires.

"This is where we make our living," Dechairo said, "and it's pretty scary that someone can just do this (with) nonchalance, do it and get away with it."

Fire officials are looking at the video and asking for the public's help in apprehending the arsonist. Anyone with information should call 877-89-ARSON (877-892-7766).
